Mark Auman's Pixel Map Maker
Pixel Map Maker is an expanded and refined version of a project I made in university called Pixel Map Generator.
While Pixel Map Generator features some basic map generation and customisation through palettes, Pixel Map Maker has a plethora of new features that allow you to make your map the way you want to make it. Features include:
- Map generation through various noise profiles (Perlin, Simplex, Voronoi etc.)
- Control over the noise scale, detail falloff, blending and ridge strength
- The ability to view maps at various aspect ratios, save and load map project files, export maps as images of various resolutions, as well as import height map data.
- View map through various data views that showcase elevation, temperature, humidity and edit data on your map
- Edit and create your custom Terrain Palettes which dictate how different layers of terrain are coloured.
- Edit and define your own Biome Rulesets which dictate at what elevations certain terrain types occupy.
- Edit and define Regions that make up your map and dictate where biomes are placed.
- Use a myriad of editor brushes to more finely edit and adjust your map to your heart's content
Using Pixel Map Maker, you can make an incredibly variety of pixel maps for use within games, art or tabletop games!
Pixel Map Maker is also available for download as a Standalone Windows application.
Pixel Map Maker will continue to be developed over the coming months. If you have any feedback or suggestions to improve the application, please feel to leave a comment on this page or submit feedback via this form.
