The Content of Avarice


Currently, Avarice has been in development for five months. Below is the listed content of what is in the game right now:

Version 0.0.1 

Gameplay:

  • Two dungeons for the player to explore (Only one is accessible in the Gameplay test demo as some bugs have to be fixed in the second dungeon)
  • Players start of with three lives but maximum health can be upgraded by finding life crystals in the dungeon. Health Flasks can be found throughout the dungeon as well as in chests which can heal the player if they ever take damage
  • Players attack using spells
  • Currently there are four spells in the game. Players will have instant access to the fireball spell and later on will have access to the lightning bolt spell, water orb spell and the boulder lob spell (A skill tree in which you can upgrade your spells may be implemented later on
  • The game has an emphasis on looting and chests are located everywhere throughout the dungeons. Enemies on death will also sometimes drop loot
  • The dungeons are split up into many Chambers. The enemy Chambers make up most of the dungeons filled with an array of enemies to kill. Loot Chambers hold many gems and chests but the door to them must be unlocked by finding a golden loot chamber key, no enemies spawn there but an enemy chamber before it will guard the entrance. Gravestone Chambers act as checkpoints and transition areas between sections of a dungeon and some must be unlocked via purple chamber keys. Key Chambers hold either a purple chamber key or a golden loot chamber which unlocks previously blocked off areas, these rooms are usually guarded by enemies patrolling. The Boss Chamber will hold the boss of the dungeon, each dungeon will have a boss to fight. The final chamber is the Portal Chamber which is typically located after defeating the boss and will teleport you to the next dungeon.

Enemies:

  • There are 11 enemies currently in the game and 40 more planned to be implemented into the game, below is a current list of enemies in the game:
  • Skeletons - follows players in a certain range
  • Ghosts - follow players in a certain range but can pass through walls
  • Dark Spirits - Aggro in a certain range and follow players while shooting suffering souls orbs at players that explode on contact
  • Bats - follow players in a certain range very fast
  • Possessed Skeleton - much like the normal skeletons but when killed a possessive soul comes out
  • Possessive Soul - Is coaxed out of the body of the skeleton it inhabited and explodes
  • Flying Eyeballs - Like bats but shoots ocular lasers
  • Collection of Eyeballs - Like Flying Eyeballs but shoots ocular lasers in four directions that travel really fast
  • Statue - Is a trap type enemy that shoots arrows
  • Burning Cypreus Skull - A skull lit by a green flame it leaves behind trails of flames
  • Slime - Jump around and leave slime trails that slow down players if they get stuck in it
